About Eastside Disciples
In partnership with the Catholic Archdiocese of Seattle, Eastside Disciples is a ministry that strives to establish community among Catholic young adults between the ages of 18-35 on the Eastside of Western Washington, between Seattle and Snoqaulmie Pass. Our young adults come from parishes in Bellevue, Sammamish, Issaquah, Kirkland, Snoqaulmie, Bothell, Mercer Island, and all around the Eastside, coming together to share in faith and fellowship. We have larger social gatherings, smaller outings, small groups, and many other things to be involved in, but our biggest regular event is Holy Hour, Happy Hour, which takes place on the 2nd Friday of every month at a different parish on the Eastside. Eastside young adults are also encouraged to attend parish events and to become active in their parish community and ministries and inviting other young adults to do the same.
Holy Hour, Happy Hour involves one hour of Eucharistic Adoration where individuals can come pray in Jesus presence through the gift of the Eucharist. As Catholics, we believe that Jesus is fully present in the host we receive at Mass, known as the Eucharist. For Eucharistic Adoration, that consecrated host is placed in a holder called a monstrance, and displayed on an altar for folks to come and sit and just be in Jesus's holy presence. Holy Hour, Happy Hour begins with an hour of this form of prayer, and then we break to, well, "break bread" together, as we then gather in the church's social hall or at a local restaurant for some time of fellowship.
